Neutering

If you've made a new addition to your family by getting a kitten, you'll need to make sure that you are not going to end up with a litter of kittens. Therefore, it is extremely important to ensure you get your kitten neutred at the right time. Often, cats are neutered to late in their life which unfortunately contributes to the high number of unwanted cats in the UK.

In order to ensure that your cat is kept healthy and does not end up with endless litters of kittens, we recommend that your cat/kitten is neutered at four months of age. It is important that your kitten is neutered at around this time in order to avoid the kitten beginning puberty.

Cats Protection have now made it easier for owners who are on a low income to get help in neutering their cat.
We encourage the neutering of all cats and kittens over the age of 4 months and if you are on a low income or benefits we will help pay £40 towards  the cost of spaying a female and £25 to castrate a male.

(Proof of your eligibility must be shown to your vets. Eligible benefts include: Income support, Housing benefit, ESA, JSA, Council tax benefit, Pension credit).
